Labor intensity of the production program
24 / 48

Task:

The technological labor intensity of production in the reporting year amounted to 153,000 man-hours. The calendar time fund of one worker is 365 days,
the number of days off according to the rotation schedule is 94 days, the duration of vacation is 24 days, planned absences from work are 4 days,
the duration of the work shift is 8 hours. The working time utilization factor is 0.95. In the calculation period, a decrease in labor intensity
by 1,710 man-hours is expected. Determine the number of workers who will be laid off.

Solution:

  1. Calculate the effective working time for one worker:
    • Total days in a year: 365 days
    • Days off: 94 days
    • Vacation days: 24 days
    • Planned absences: 4 days
    • Working days: 365 - 94 - 24 - 4 = 243 days
    • Duration of the work shift: 8 hours
    • Effective working hours per year: 243×8=1944 hours
  2. Adjust for the working time utilization factor:

    • Working time utilization factor: 0.95
    • Adjusted effective working hours per year: 1944×0.95=1846.8 hours
  3. Calculate the number of workers required without the decrease in labor intensity:
    • Total labor intensity: 153,000 man-hours
    • Number of workers required: 153,000 / 1846.8≈82.85 workers
    • Rounded to the nearest whole number: 83 workers
  4. Calculate the number of workers required with the decrease in labor intensity:
    • Decrease in labor intensity: 1,710 man-hours
    • Adjusted labor intensity: 153,000−1,710=151,290 man-hours
    • Number of workers required: 151,290 / 1846.8≈81.92 workers
    • Rounded to the nearest whole number: 82 workers
  5. Determine the number of workers who will be laid off:
    • Initial number of workers: 83
    • Adjusted number of workers: 82
    • Number of workers to be laid off: 83 - 82 = 1 worker

Answer: 1 worker will be laid off.
